Water: 10 Reasons to Drink More - Article #1

1. More nutrient absorption

Water is the major transport system of nutrients in the body. Dehydration leads to the loss of valuable vitamins and minerals.

2. Build muscle

Your body is only able to synthesize protein effectively when hydrated. Protein synthesis builds muscle tissue. And an increase in muscle tissue boosts your metabolism!

3. Water regulates body temperature

It also keeps your major organs functioning efficiently.

4. Decreases Blood Pressure

If you are dehydrated your blood becomes thick and your heart has to work harder. This increased work load on the heart and arteries increases blood pressure.

5. Decreases Joint Pain

Synovial fluid lining some of your joints is primarily water. When dehydrated, the synovial fluid becomes tacky and increases friction in the joints. Think about the stress on the gears in your car if you go a long time without changing the oil. The same theory applies.

6. Moves more Poop Through

The major reason for constipation is dehydration. Water is essential in allowing your body to remove waste. The longer toxins sit in your intestines and colon, the greater chance of re-absorbing those waste products. This could also increase your chances of getting certain cancers.

7. Think Fast!

Your brain is 85% water! Since water is a transport system for neurological impulses, a well hydrated brain functions better.

8. Let's be vain.

Water is important in the integrity of the cells in our skin. Simply put: hydrated skin is healthy skin (and beautiful skin!).

9. Improved Libido

In many cases, sexual dysfunction has been treated by re-hydrating the body.

10. Feel Good!

From personal experience, I know that I feel so much better when I'm drinking more water. Make it a goal to drink more water, and I guarantee over the course of a couple weeks you'll notice a big difference!

Bottoms up!
