What Are Anti-oxidants?
Anti-oxidants are molecules that slow or prevent the oxidation of other molecules in the body. This oxidation produces free radicals that can damage your cells. So consuming foods rich in anti-oxidants (green tea, cacao beans, wine, coffee beans, blueberries and various other berries) will prolong cell life and maintain the health of your organs and skin.
Cacao Beans
- come from the fruit of an Amazonian tree
- high in beta-carotene (important in eye-health), zinc (hormone function), and chromium (works with insulin for glucose regulation)
- incredibly high in vitamin C (an anti-oxidant) and magnesium (needed for over 300 chemical reactions in the body)
Gunpowder Green Tea
- each leaf of the green tea plant has been rolled into a small pellet which makes the leaf more resilient and holds more flavour and anti-oxidants
- production dates back to 618 AD, and was introduced to Taiwan in the 1800’s
- when buying, the pellets should be shiny (fresher leaves) and tightly rolled (higher quality)
